New ICAN Professional Examination Syllabus Takes Effect November 2019

The 54th President of the Institute Of Chartered Accountants Of Nigeria, ICAN, Alhaji Razak Jaiyeola (FCA) has disclosed that the new ICAN Professional Examination based on the updated syllabus of the Institute takes effect with the November 2019 diet.

The ICAN boss said this While delivering his admission address at the 63rd Induction Ceremony for new members held in Lagos recently. He said that the Institute regularly reviews its syllabus to bring it in line with the changing dynamics in the profession.

He further explained that the Institute’s examinations are benchmarked against the global best practice set by the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). He said the Institute has been able to sustain the integrity of its examination processes in the last 54 years due to its resolve to produce the best chartered accountants, adding that ICAN as “proactive Institute regularly organize trainings, workshops and seminars on the different areas of accounting”, to sharpen the skills of its members.

To this end the Institute hold Mandatory Continuing Professional Education (MCPE) programmes to bring members and non-members up to speed with new developments in the accountancy profession.

Alhaji Jaiyeola also explained that ICAN encourages its members to specialize in at least one area of accountancy through its Seven (7) Faculties. “The Faculties are specialized areas of accounting that would build your competence as specialists in areas such as Forensic Auditing, Taxation, Consultancy and Information Technology, etc”, he said.
