How To Apply For CIMA Exemption

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) is one of the leading professional body in management accounting. This post will educate us on how to apply for CIMA exemption.

You need to send CIMA an email or fax which contains all of your documents. These documents are your proof that you’ve studied a qualification which is relevant to CIMA. But before you can apply for an exemption, you need to be a CIMA student with a valid CIMA contact ID.

Follow the five steps stated below to help you with your exemption application.

1. REGISTER
You can register online on the CIMA website. You can also register through a training provider like Skills Academy. Our friendly consultants can assist you with your CIMA registration and your exemption application.

2. CHECK IF YOU QUALIFY FOR EXEMPTION
Make sure that you know what exemptions you can get. Search for your qualification on the CIMA website. You can search using your institute name. The qualification qualifying for the CIMA exemption will be listed.

3. SEND YOUR DOCUMENTS AS PROOF
You need to send copies of your Higher level certificates and transcripts as proof to CIMA. It should include the subjects that you’ve done and the marks you got. Send your documents via email to documents@cimaglobal.com and include your CIMA contact ID in the subject line. Do not send your original documents to CIMA, as they can not guarantee their safe return.

4. CONFIRMATION
CIMA will send you a confirmation email once they have received your documents. Make sure that the email address you are using is correct and updated at all times. You can update your details on the My CIMA login.

Incase you sent it via fax and didn't receive confirmation after 72 hours, you should send your documents again.

5. ACCEPTED OR DECLINED THE OFFER
It can take 20 working days for you to get confirmation of your exemption. After you have received an answer, you can either ‘Accept’ or ‘Decline’ it.
How To Apply For CIMA Exemption

Accepting it
By accepting it, you need to pay the CIMA exemption fees. You have eight weeks to do so after you have received your answer.

Declining it
If you decide to decline it, you need to email CIMA within eight weeks of receiving an answer. You can send an email to student.admissions@cimaglobal.com

PAYMENT OPTIONS
CIMA is a UK (United Kingdom) based examination body. If you are not in the UK, you can make payment online or send it via post.

Online
Pay online by using your debit or credit card. Please note that this type of payment can take 2-3 working days to be confirmed
