How To Apply For CITN Direct Membership As A Lawyer And ICAN Member
The direct Membership scheme of Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) comprise of candidates coming into the Institute directly without passing through the institute's examinations.
THE CRITERIA FOR DIRECT MEMBERSHIP ARE
1. Accredited Nigerian Professional Institutions i.e. ICAN and ANAN with one year post membership experience;
2. Staff of State Boards of Internal Revenue i.e. on Grade level 10 and above on Senior Inspector Cadre or Asst. Manager Tax with Federal Inland Revenue Service with two (2) years post promotion experience and must have passed the JTB/FIRS final examination;
3. Lawyers with three (3) years post call to bar and cognate experience.

Completed form should be printed and sent to the Institute's Secretariat (Lagos or Abuja Liaison office) with your credentials duly attested by two financials members of the Institute.
With reference to criteria 2 above. I am a Staff of Adamawa State Board of Internal Revenue Yola with 30years working experience in Tax Administration and Practice, Grade Level 14/9, Ag.Director Other Taxes, Graduate (BSc. Accountancy), Member NIM, ACCA. But for over 6years, Joint Tax Board has not call for the usual JTB Final examination. My promotion has been stagnated for more than seven (7) years, I cannot cross to GL.15 OR 16 due to your restrictions. How can the Institute help me as I desperately want to join the prestigious body?
